Working in co-operation with the Bristol
Breast Unit, we are an entirely voluntary group founded
in June 1997.
Bosom Buddies help patients
and their families cope with the psychological and everyday consequences
of breast cancer and breast related illnesses.
Our aim is to ensure that every
woman diagnosed with a breast disease in Bristol and the surrounding
area is able to contact a "Bosom Buddie" for guidance,
support and friendship during what will probably be one of the most
traumatic times of their lives.
None
of our members are trained counsellors so what we hope to
provide is "friendship" and a listening ear from
someone who has experienced a similar situation. When cancer
is diagnosed the need to talk is imperative, but more so the
need to talk to someone who has been there and understands.
